Drunken Tula thief falls asleep at the scene of the crime
Police in Tula are investigating the circumstances surrounding an unsuccessful theft which a drunken local resident attempted to carry out. As Interfax reports, on his way from a corporate party, the intruder broke down the door of a mobile phone shop, took goods from the window displays, but he was unable to carry them off, and fell asleep at the crime scene.
The sleeping thief was discovered during the night of Saturday the 22nd of December by employees of a private security firm. They woke the 29-year-old man, whose name is not reported, and took him to the Central office of the Tula police. The head of the Ministry for the Interior’s Tula Oblast department’s press service told Interfax that it has not yet been decided if charges will be pressed.
Earlier in 2012 in the Tula Oblast at least one more attempted theft failed due to the criminals somnolence. In August, the 23-year-old inhabitant of Novomoskovsk, Sergey Ivanov broke into the apartment of a pensioner, but accidentally disturbed her and hid under the bed, where he instantly fell asleep. Hearing his snoring, the lady found Ivanov and called the police.
