Bill introduced in the Duma to fight torrent users
A bill has been introduced in the State Duma aimed at protecting intellectual rights on the internet. It is intended to allow internet portal operators distributing material illegally to be shut down.
The main mechanism for fighting pirated content that has been proposed by the MPs (the authors of the bill, director Vladimir Bortko, actress Elena Drapeko and singer Maria Maksakova Igenbergs) is security measures taken by courts at the request of rights-holders, Interfax reports.
Formerly, approximately 30 masters of Russian culture representing cinema, music, TV, literature, art, and theatre came to the federal assembly asking measures to be taken as soon as possible to fight the illegal use of intellectual property in information and telecommunications networks, including the internet.
“Our people can’t count on the security of their cultural heritage if creative industries are at the periphery of the public agenda. Our state cannot count on building an effective economy if they don’t ensure the effective protection of intellectual property. Our society cannot be innovative if the meaning of intellectual work is devalued”, their statement said.

In that case, we need to introduce in relation to this intellectual property the right to return a product of substandard quality in 14 days. If you’ve paid for it, and the film/album/book turned out to be rubbish, let them give you your money back.

What? Rutracker is in the .org hosting domain, only .ru falls under the law. Yeah, and if we’re talking about cultural heritage, then the most recent heritage makes you sick to watch it/listen to it. It’s better to download/watch something foreign.
