From Echo Moskvy:
A public support system needs to be developed for Russian blood donors
The health minister, Veronica Skvortsova has stated this, after herself giving blood in a mobile donation unit. Giving blood is not unusual for the head of the health ministry. She explained that she does it regularly. “It’s a very healthy procedure that lets you regenerate blood faster and helps renew and rejuvenate your body”, Veronice Skvortsova underlined. The minister, however, says that she cannot legally give days off to donors, according to her it would be too much work. In connection with “Donor Day”, which the health ministry are holding today, Skvortsova has explained that it is necessary to offer donors social rewards. “… we need to develop a system of social support – handing out theatre tickets, free travel on public transport, visits to spas”, Skvortsova said to journalists. As well, she reported that the amount of blood given in the two months of this year has increased in Russia, despite paid donations being axed, which had a mixed response among the public. The “Donor Day” promotion will be continued tomorrow in the Russian government.

Quick, let’s offer new rejuvenation treatments in beauty salons across the country! :)))

Where were your brains when you took the money away from donors, Veronica? Probably giving herself a blood update.

Veronica’s got just enough brains to know who to be loyal to!

Why lie so brazenly?“The “Donor Day” promotion will be continued tomorrow in the Russian government.”
And why are you giving us this ghastly PR?
arheologiztomska:
But doctors are complaining that there’s not enough blood now that the payments have been cancelled.

In fact, there is less and less blood …

So the donors were just waiting for them to axe the payment! They found it degrading to give money for blood. But for theatre tickets…! The free transport ticket, will that just be from home to the blood bank? Maybe we could give them 100 litres of cold water, 100 litres of hot water, 10 kWh of electricity, and a free cup of instant coffee at a top restaurant…
[Note: Russians pay for hot and cold water from the state separately, in litres.]
andy66:
The most important question is why did they stop paying donors (even the few pennies it was)? Is there no money in the country? Are there not enough people with yachts? Tell us! Everything else is just a load of old bull!
romantic_cinick: (responding to above)
They still pay us. 800 roubles for 400 grammes. And two days off work.
maccheroni: (responding to above)
They say that there’s still money for type 3 and 4 blood donors. I don’t know if it’s true though.
[Note: Type 3 is what we would call “B”, and type 4 is what we would call “AB”.]
pangoliny:
These idiots start off by creating a problem, then they solve it, and they call it work, all on our taxes!

Was there something wrong with paying people? It’s clear that it’s harder to steal money – checking the accounts isn’t too difficult.
