Ekaterina Samutsevich has turned to the courts with a claim against her former lawyer, Violetta Volkova
Ekaterina Samutsevich, member of the infamous punk group Pussy Riot, has approached the court with a claim against her former lawyer, Violetta Volkova, suing her for 2 million roubles [£39,000, 45,000€] for psychological damage, because during the trial of the other group members, the defender spoke about her unflatteringly in the press and on social networks. Samutsevich is also asking the court to require the lawyer to retract her statements that take away her dignity. The court confirmed to a newspaper that they received the complaint on the 14th August, and a preliminary court date was set for the 18th September. Samutsevich’s current lawyer, Irina Khrunova, found out about the lawsuit her client had filed through Izvestiya [newspaper]. The newspaper was unable to get hold of the Pussy Riot member herself.

Yeah, people have started to forget about the girl. She needs to remind us about her. If you want to go to prison, go to Volkova with your problems.

They’ll order her to pay, but not 2 million, more like 20,000 [£390, 450€]. It’s too nice here for there to be any large sums of money involved, but won’t they think why does Samutsevich need this much money?
starrain: (responding to above)
Maybe they will make her pay. But it’ll have nothing to do with Samutsevich, it’ll be to teach the lawyer a lesson.

She doesn’t want her freedom without money!!!

A defender, like a priest, should never run their mouth for any excuse…
sall:
That’s what happens when you take on a “PR specialist” rather than a “defence specialist”.

It’s shameful to see lawyers playing their role in a real theatre!
