From Echo Moskvy:
Vladimir Putin has signed two high profile bills banning the promotion of homosexuality and insulting the feelings of religious believers
A statement has been posted on the official portal for legal information. One of them introduces multi-thousand rouble fines and even imprisonment for public and open insults to the feelings of religious believers. The law on promoting non-traditional sexual relationships when children are around risks fines of up to 1 million roubles [£20,000, 23,000€].

Is this a witch hunt or are they really introducing religious devotion in Russia?

It’s a witch hunt in modern surroundings.

It’s obviously a witch hunt. Nobody knows at all what “non-traditional sexual relations” or “religious feelings” are, and which of these feelings are being offended: touch, smell, sight, hearing, or taste.

It’s the sixth sense of Soviet people that’s being offended – the feeling of deep satisfaction.

As a Christian, the phrase Allahu Akbar offends me. That sort of thing is offending my feelings.

Good decision. I’m not a churchgoing man, but if someone comes up to me with their gay propaganda in real life, I’ll fine them right in the eye.

Do they often come up to you, seeing as you’re so worried?
ohrjr:
Poor man, I feel sorry for you! On your weekend, in the heat, signing in such “momentous” laws!

He has air conditioning.

It won’t be too long until a law is passed banning promoting Putin.
