Shower gel leak at a factory near Tula
At a chemical plant in Novomoskovsk, in the Tula Oblast, a shower gel leak has taken place, according to “Tula Media”. As a result of an accident, foam began to flow into the neighbouring sewage treatment plant and other businesses.
Emercon specialists arrived at the scene, and called out representatives of the Azot factory. Employees of the organisation told the emergency responders that everything was fine at the plant, and a failure had probably occurred at a neighbouring factory.
The problem was solved by 8:30 on Wednesday morning. The Novomoskovsk administration approached Rosprirodnadzor [Note: the Russian environment agency] so that the agency could investigate the event. According to preliminary data, foam from the shower gel does not present a danger to people.
It would appear that the shower gel leak took place at the “Novomoskovsk Aerosol” factory late on Tuesday night. The cause of the accident was the failure of a valve in a vat containing shower gel that was ready to be distributed. As a result of the incident, approximately 7 cubic metres of the substance has ended up in the sewer systems. Why “Novomoskovsk Aerosol” employees did not contact Emercon themselves is not reported.
