Film about Pussy Riot has been shortlisted for an Oscar
A film about the punk band Pussy Riot has been placed on the short list of nominees for the Best Documentary Feature Oscar. In Russian the film is known as “A telling process: The Pussy Riot Story” [in English: Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer.] The film was produced by Mike Lerner and Maxim Pozdorovkin, and the rights to the film premiere were acquired by the American TV channel HBO.
Members of Pussy Riot received two years in prison after the incident at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. One of them, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, recently announced a hunger strike to protest prison conditions.
