Pussy Riot is a Russian punk band, based in Moscow. The list of members changes frequently, and is difficult to keep track of as the members use pseudonyms and balaclavas. However, all of the members are women, and they often sing protest songs particularly with political themes, as well as feminist and LGBT rights heavily featured in their lyrics. They made international news in February 2012 when they interrupted a mass in Moscow’s Church of Christ the Saviour and sang a song laden with expletives against Putin.
